The panel examined how cities can stimulate enterprise and innovation, drawing from their own experiences and sharing strategies that have worked in other parts of the world.

The event, held at the Liverpool Hilton, also included panellists Steve Morgan, Chairman of Redrow Homes, Max Steinberg, Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision, Ged Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Liverpool City Council and Natalie Haywood - Managing Director of Leaf Tea Shop & Bar.

The US-based Kauffman Foundation has chosen Liverpool to host the prestigious Global Entrepreneurship Congress in 2012. Jonathan Ortmans said:

“Entrepreneurs are, in many ways, the only way we can dig ourselves out of recession. Entrepreneurship is a little understood field; however Liverpool is looking closely at developing ways to grow its economy by creating new entrepreneurs.

“The Global Entrepreneurship Congress will help people to start a business, disrupt a market and to make a job rather than take a job”.

Claire McKeown, Operations Director, River Motion Group attended the event. She said:

“The event provided a great opportunity to debate how creative businesses can inspire employees to cultivate their own individual entrepreneurial flair.

“I was interested in the debate about how entrepreneurial spirit is not just about a lead 'entrepreneur' at the head of the organisation, but is also about a team of talented professionals with passion and skill. As a dynamic business, we've always believed in that need to inspire such talents across the team to keep our media cutting edge."

This event was hosted by Downtown Liverpool in Business Chairman Frank McKenna. Frank said:

“The week focussed on some of the key challenges that are facing the city and its business community.

“Our speakers were some of the most seasoned entrepreneurs who have a depth of knowledge and an ability to provide valuable business insight to our delegates.”

The Event was sponsored by: Liverpool Vision and Addy Consultancy.
