Royal Liverpool Hospital gets £6.5m from government for research
A Liverpool hospital was last night awarded £6.5m in Government funding for research.
The Royal Liverpool Hospital, in partnership with Liverpool University, was given the cash to investigate stomach and intestine disease. It was part of an £800m investment during the next five years nationally from the Government.
Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, said: “I am pleased to announce that in Liverpool a health research partnership has been awarded over £6.5m in funding. Their important work will help ensure NHS patients across the country receive word-class treatments and the very best health outcomes. This investment will see scientists in Liverpool contribute to the UK-wide development of exciting new science into tangible, effective treatments.”
