Expansion at Cheviot Liverpool
Cheviot, one of the UK’s largest independent asset management firms, has welcomed its Senior Partner in Liverpool to the firm.
Simon Walker has joined the business after moving from Deutsche Bank’s operation in the city where he was a managing director of the private wealth management division.
Partner Nigel Hibbert has been leading the office pending Simon’s arrival at the firm. The now ten-strong team which includes a third Partner, Mark Ewer, were individually recruited from Deutsche Bank (previously Tilney Investment Management) in the early part of this year and have joined the new office as their contractual obligations have permitted.
Cheviot Asset Management opened the office at 5 St Paul’s Square, Liverpool, at the end of May and already has close to £60m of funds under management. Ryan Cruise has recently been appointed to support the team as the funds under management continue to grow.
Simon specialises in the creation and management of tailored investment solutions for private clients, pension funds and charities, and has more than 23 years’ experience in the investment management industry.
Commenting on the plans of the firm going forward, Simon Walker said: “Liverpool has a deep and impressive pool of talent within the investment and wealth management sector and is the perfect base for us to extend Cheviot’s reach into the North of the country.
“The office has had an extremely positive start. We have already established some great relationships with a number of the region’s best independent financial advisers, and are continuing to talk to professional advisers in the North West to understand how we can work together for the benefit of clients.
“For me, working with Cheviot was a compelling proposition because its partnership structure promotes the increasingly rare combination of an innovative, contemporary approach to investment management and a very traditional and personal approach to client service – all under an independent umbrella.”
Cheviot manages assets on behalf of private clients, charities and trusts. Launched in May 2006 by chief executive Michael Kerr-Dineen, formerly head of UBS Laing & Cruickshank, Cheviot chose Liverpool as the location for its first office outside London because of the city’s importance and reputation as a centre for wealth management.
