Chinese business delegation eager to advance investment opportunities

A key Chinese delegation visited Liverpool from the 7th -9th June 2011 looking for investment opportunities.

Their three-day visit, hosted by Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, includes meetings with civic and business leaders and tours of established companies including the city’s oldest manufacturer, RS Clare, the Halewood Jaguar Land Rover car plant and Peel Ports, which is seeking Chinese investment for its £10bn Liverpool and Wirral Waters developments.

Delegation leader Xiaoming Zhou, Minister Counsellor (economic and commercial) at China’s London embassy, said: “We hope we can, through our visit, gain more interest among local businesses as well as Chinese businesses to invest in both directions.”

Speaking at a town hall civic lunch hosted by regeneration agency Liverpool Vision, he added: “We are meeting a lot of companies and will be discussing opportunities for Chinese investment and investors, and for local businesses to expand exports to Chinese markets. We hope to bring more products from this city to Chinese markets.”
