Apposing to design app for major Liverpool business event

Apposing, the Liverpool-based mobile app-development studio, is to produce the app for a major business convention in the city.

The Global Entrepreneurship Congress, which takes place at the Arena and Convention Centre in March, will feature keynote speeches by Sir Richard Branson, former Tesco chief Sir Terry Leahy and others.

Around 3,000 people are expected for the event which has been organised by the city's economic development company Liverpool Vision in partnership with the US-based Kauffman Foundation, an organisation which promotes enterprise and innovation.

Apposing said the app will help delegates get the most from their time in the city by providing up-to-the-minute information on fringe events as well as the main congress.

There will also be an option to add events to a ‘My Schedule’ function. All app users will be able to access news feeds, video footage from the event and speaker biographies with links to Twitter accounts.

Director Dave Brown said: “We’re in the business of innovation, and it’s more than a pleasure to be involved with a global-event which mirrors Apposing's drive and ambition.

“The event looks set to be a great triumph for Liverpool, showcasing what the city has to offer while also strengthening business links across the world. We wanted the app to give delegates everything they need to fully take advantage of what the Congress can offer them. It will be a jam-packed few days, but the app will give users the tools to take it all in and work it to their advantage.”

The app will be available for the iPhone and iPad as a native application in the App Store, as well as all other phones on Android and Blackberry platforms.

Max Steinberg, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said: “Apposing showed great enthusiasm for the Global Entrepreneurship Congress and has a track record of producing innovative mobile apps. As successful local entrepreneurs, we are looking forward to working with them to demonstrate the city’s creative and digital talent.”

The GEC takes place on March 9-16. It has previously been held in Kansas City, Dubai and Shanghai.
