Germany

Germany is Liverpool’s 2nd most successful inward investment market and the source of one of the city’s largest foreign direct investments to date.

More than 160 of our companies are currently trading with Germany in key sectors including  R&D, manufacturing, construction, business support, retail and biomedical.

Liverpool and the wider City Region benefit from a number of important connections with Germany. Liverpool is twinned with Cologne, St. Helens with Stuttgart and Knowsley with Stadt Moers. There are also less formal connections with Hamburg through The Beatles connection.

The strongest focus to our link with Germany is via the State of North Rhine Westpahalia, which is Germany’s most heavily populated region with 18 million inhabitants.  In 2012 Liverpool will celebrate 60 years of twinning with Cologne, the region’s largest city and a range of economic, cultural and sporting links already exist between us.

India

India’s economy is one of the fastest expanding in the world, with a rapidly expanding consumer class and increasing levels of Indian foreign direct investment into the UK.

The UK has strong ties with India, and UK companies are well positioned to take advantage of this growing export and investment market. Over 120 companies within the Liverpool City Region are currently trading with India in key sectors such as IT services, R&D, manufacturing and business support services.

Liverpool Vision aims to establish strategic relationships in India that will raise Liverpool’s profile as an ambitious, modern, can-do city where businesses can thrive, laying foundations for mutually beneficial future commercial relationships in key sectors.
